How to make a $14 viking belt?
A decorative belt to your dress really makes your outfit gorgeous! Woven belts are ideal for adding a flash of texture to a dress during the summer. They give a very classic spin when worn with a linen.
But then if you want a high authentic handwoven belt as they made during viking age it will cost you from $50- $350! They are gorgeous and handmade in natural fabrics such as wool and linen. I thought I would share a great way to make your own belt a lot cheaper.
In our website we sell machine made ribbons to decorate the clothes with. These can also be used as waistbands. I have used 2 meters of a normal jacquard woven ribbon. To make it look like a proper belt you need tassels! There are a thousand different way of making a tassel but here is the most easy way: Cut the ribbon in wanted length. 2- 3 meters is nice.
Start removing the white tread and make it as long as you want it. That is basically it!
When finished add a knot and your done! Make the tassel long or short as preferred. Easy isn’t it?
Here is the green ribbon we have in stock. I have used 3 meters at this one to make a double waist band.
