Kaupang Viking Shawl/Cloak

699.00 kr

The cloak was a common way to keep the wearer warm and dry and project their status simultaneously. Scholars think that Viking ladies would wear cloaks or shawls fastened in front of their chests with a brooch or fibula, or the cloak could be fastened at the shoulder, the latter being the preferred method for men of the era.

The Vikings liked to wear colourful clothes with differing patterns and decorative bands. This plaid variant is known among other from the Oseberg ship burial.

Viking shawl Kaupang is 150 x 150 cm and made from 40% wool. Unfortunately this shawl has got the wrong label on it. It says 100 % cotton but it is not.

Material: 40 % wool, 40 % poliamid, 20 % poliester.
